Week 53
Well, this is it. Photo 53. I wanted to get something really good for the final photo. So tonight I loaded up and headed out into the county to find a nice winter night scene to shoot. I finally found a nice spot on a random sideroad. I got out and set up in the freezing wind, turned the power switch to 'On' and nothing happened. It took me a second to realize my camera battery was still in its charger under my desk. At least I accomplished something in this final week, the biggest photo fail of the year for me. I suck at life.
Luckily I had this photo that I shot earlier in the week around 3am in the backyard. I like it, but its not what I wanted to post.
However, Todd and I have decided not only to continue with this photo a week theme, but we plan to put this years efforts together in a book. So look for that soon. Hopefully this year I won't top tonight's failure. See you in O'11.

Week 52
I drove around for awhile lastnight looking for a wintery photo. I didn't find anything I wanted to shoot, so I decided to do something I've been meaning to do anyway, take photos our our house and simple christmas lights. The first photo is a panorama. They didn't turn out like I had planned...sorry.

Week 49
I went out into the cold lastnight after work to find some photos. I didn't have anything yet for my photo of the week. I had tried a few times throughout the week but it was always raining and ugly. I shot some of the ambassador bridge waiting for a boat to pass but finally gave up. When I got back to my car and started packing up a boat popped out of no where. So I quickly set up a shot. It's not the best but all I could do to get a decent shot. (below).
My main photo this week (and the rest, below) is from the industrial area of west Windsor. I tried a few different colour versions of this shot with flash gels but I liked this one best.

Week 48
The other night I went to Ojibway with the lovely Laura Berry to shoot some photos. It was well after dark so I decided to try some light painting. I didn't shoot much and my photos were no where as cool as Laura's. But it was fun and we even got snuck up on by a curious deer. Now I'm off to see if I can make some interesting photos today in the warm rain.

Week 47
Last week we had a lot a fog. So naturally I went out and shot some photos. I'm running late for work so I don't have time to write much. But I don't think they need much explaination.

Week 46
I went out the other night to shoot some taillight photos at the Walker Rd & Grand Marais underpass. I've shot here before but I thought I'd give it another try. I didn't stay too long because it was too cold and I couldn't find my gloves. Everytime winter comes back around I can't find the gloves I had bought the previous winter.
So my photo for this week is looking north along Walker Road with the Chrysler plant in the background. The second photo is the first one I shot this night and I thought it was cool. It's looking east down Grand Marais.

Week 45
This weekend I had the pleasure of waking up at 3am to be at work for 4 to make donuts. Sunday I brought my camera along because I knew I had to get a photo for this week.
I shot some at an old abandoned school house the other day. But I'm not posting them here because I already posted them elsewhere, and I figured I've had enough abandoned photos on here for a while. You can check them out on my Flickr.
So here are some tasty donuts to enjoy while I catch up on sleep.

Week 44
Another abandoned house, and another quick post this week. Seems like Mondays are always busy. I shot this on an overnight trip around the Sarnia area. It was quite a ways away from the road, with a long driveway. It looked abandoned but I wasn't sure until I got close, after about a hundred feet of weeds scraping along the underside of my car.
This photo is a very light HDR. I'm still not crazy about hdr's and I only do them if I can make them look realistic. I was going to post a non-hdr, but I just don't have the time to edit any right now. I still really like this one.

Week 40
I'm cutting it close getting this post up, but I'm still working on these photos from today. I just edited some of the better ones so I could get them up before midnight. I've shot this old barn before (included an old photo of the outside from my first visit at the bottom of this post) But I never went inside before.
This time I went back with my new photo exploring partner Laura Berry to have a look around inside. From the outside it didn't look like there was a whole lot in there, but it was pretty interesting. Dead cats and all.

Week 39
I had a few days off last week so I took to the road for my last random summer road trip. This first shot is somewhere between Orillia and Midland (Ontario).
The second shot is at the Shamrock Motel in Midland, on my second night.
This last shot is from my first night in Orillia at the Kings Inn Motel. I thought the light bars over the beds were weird, but neat. So I tried to build a portrait around it.

Week 38
Not a whole lot to write about this week. I haven't shot much because I had been trying to get caught up on my editing, to some success. I went out and shot this one lastnight because I knew I had to have something for my post today. I don't love it, but I like it. The sunset was pretty weak and I was quite late getting out there.
I'm leaving in the morning for a couple days to drive around Ontario hunting photos, so next weeks post should be interesting.
Don't forget to check out Todd's photos when he gets them up. I know he's been very busy with work the last couple weeks, what with running music festivals and all.

Week 37
I apologize for being late once again with my weekly photo. I simply didn't have a chance to post this yesterday. I was at the E3 music festival all day (literaly) shooting photos. It was a big show put on by my Area 53 partner Todd, featuring Alexisonfire. I would post something from that, but I havent had the chance to starting working on them yet. I have about 400 from their set alone and around 800 from the whole day. I didnt get home until 2am, got to bed about 4, and had to work at 9.
This weeks photo is from a little test session I had by myself trying to figure out lighting. Not much to say about it really, its me in a field trying not to look like an idiot. I don't know how well i did. This week I have some light stands and reliable flash triggers coming in the mail, so things should only get better, except for my modeling.

I've shot this church in River Canard before but I found myself there after sunset the other night so I figured I'd shoot some more. This photo has a bit of photoshop done to it (hdr toning in cs5). However the original isnt that much different. I was going to post the regular version but my trial version of CS5 litterally just expired so I can't do anything else tonight.
(Edit: I got photoshop to work again, here is the same photo, straight-out-the-camera.)

I had the weekend off so I took off Saturday morning down Highway 3. I didn't get many good photos though. There wasn't a single cloud the whole time, which makes for some boring photos. But I saw this house along Hwy 3 on my first day and thought I'd save it for the way back. I shot these this morning on my way home.
I was really interested in this house, it looks like it was quite fancy in its day. It also looks like its been empty for a very long time. I actually saw a lot of abandoned houses along the way but this one really stood out.

Week 35
I got a little lucky the other night driving around looking for photos to shoot. I happened to catch a little lightning and a train. I still haven't got any crazy lightning photos but I think they're getting better. The first photo is a train that I barely caught. I parked to shoot photos of some cows next to the tracks but as soon as I got out of the car I heard the train horn, so I set up in 5 seconds and fired this one off. I would have been better if I had some time to prepare. But I'm still happy with it.

Week 34
I think this is my first time being late with my photo of the week. I've had them done for a few days now. I worked late yesterday, then had to go straight to the race track. My dad raced the first heat for me. (races start at 6 and I had to work until 6:30). I had a headache all day but I hoped once I got a race in I'd feel better, but it only made me feel much worse. I had to let my dad race the final heat and I went home violently ill.
After hosing vomit off the side of my car I passed out at about 7:30 and slept right through till 8am. Then I had to work at 9 today.
Anyway, enough of my complaining. Both of these photos were shot on the same night, driving aimlessly around the county, ending up in Amherstburg. The second is this week's manditory panorama. It's alright, but I feel like theres something missing.
That is all.

I didn't shoot much this week. I used my time wisely to catch up on some editing instead. These shoots are from Friday night at St. Rose park here in Windsor.
Both photos are essensially the same, in a way. The first is the tight version, and the second is the mandatory panoramic. Anyway, thats all I have the energy for tonight.

Week 32 - Random Aimless Road Trip
As usual I'm posting these photos quickly and I don't have a lot of time to tell a story here. I had the long weekend off so after work on Friday I skipped town with no fixed destination. I avoided the tourist areas because I knew I wouldn't be able to find a place to stay.
The first two photos are panorama's from random side roads. The last is of Eugenia Falls south of Collingwood. I've been here before but never got any good shots of it. I tried going there the last trip I was on a few months ago, But couldn't seem to find it, so I moved on.
Anyway, thats about all I have for this week...hoping my next road trip is longer than a few days.

Week 31
At least twice a year all us BMX'ers in Windsor and the surrounding area gather at the Skate Park in Forest Glade for what we call a Bike Jam. This one was supposed to be on Saturday but because of bad weather it was pushed back to Sunday. I had to work so I got there late.
By the time I was there most of the crazy tricks already went down so I only shot a few photos, including this panoramic during sunset. Its not the best angle of the park but I wanted to get the setting sun in the shot.
The other two photos this week are from my random evening journeys around the county. Enjoy.

Week 30
Every year my friend Kevin has a party out in the county. Usually its in St. Joachim at his parents place, but this year he had his own house to throw it at, in Stoney Point. Check out the photos from last year's Kevstock. This weeks photo is a panoramic from the middle of the front yard. Usually there are a lot more people, but this year was a little light. Even I had to leave early thanks to work in the morning, but otherwise I would have went all night like I usually do at Kevstock.
I shot a lot of photos this week, but as usual I have no time to work on them. So these are just the couple I had edited already. This second shot is out around Leamington somewhere just as a storm was blowing in.
